[...] Tip #5 : Taxonomy in WordPress 2.3 The upcoming release of WordPress 2.3 introduces a new way of tagging and categorizing posts and links. It replaces the old way of categories and should provide enough flexibility to replace a whole bunch of plugins. Or, at least, make those plugins much simpler.
You say : " I have a feeling that it has a lot of potential for the non-obvious uses"...

I have exactly the same feeling, but I still do not have the answer.
Apart from making things easier for tagging, I am sure it will enable to imagine different classification techniques within a blog... Do you think that we could imagine other kind of object others than category, tag and blogroll ?

Other than the taxonomy implementation in WordPress 2.3, I have no idea what significance will it have on my site. Also, I am using All-in-One SEO Pack, I am still investigating if that may have any effect on this plugin.

Dejan,

right now there is a discussion on Trac (that's where WordPress bug tracking and development happens) on whether the importer for Simple Tagging plugin should be available in the core when WordPress 2.3 will be released, or if it should be left for a plugin. You can cast your vote and voice your arguments here:

Hi,

What about Simple Tagging plugin. This is better plugin (IMO) then UTW and supports import of UTW tags. Will it WP 2.3 support import of Simple Tagging tags?

Thanks

Scott,

thanks! I'm sure there will be a lot of interest for an example, once WordPress 2.3 is released. :)

If an example is needed of accessing tag information in 2.3, beyond what Kubrick does, check out Sandbox 1.0. Might be helpful.
